This is a comparison between my original Fairy painting, Dan dos Santos' paint over and the new Fairy based on Dan's paint over.
As you can see Dan fixed some major issues with the piece, especially the depth problems and the figure not being grounded very well. As I was trying to apply Dan's fixes to my original so I could see how they look painted with my own hand, I started making some more changes that occurred to me during the process. I darkened the outside part of the wing hoping it would direct more attention towards the head. I added some more light near the fairy's feet where the old shadow used to be. I rotated the grass in the background to better match the angle that the clouds suggest. I also did some other minor changes you'll notice.
I learned so much from this critique, it was invaluable for improving me as an illustrator.
