This makes me think of Night crawler from the X-men. I love that the fairy is male instead of the typical pretty pixie Tinkerbell type. Nice approach, I also like that you put some thought into a story in correlation with the image to give it more purpose and life.
I love the pose and the look on the fairies face. He (it looks male to me) doesn't seem to be happy to be interrupted. It makes me curious to about who is interrupting him and why and what will happen next. The cool light from the left makes me think of moon light and the warmer from the right of an open fire nearby. Both lights create great shadows that bring out the leanness and the musculature of the fairy. This is fantastic and I wish you the very best for it. Let us know if you geet accepted.
I actually originally planned for the fairy to be female [link] but somewhere during the painting process it started looking more male. I do tend to exaggerate muscles in my work a lot. Oh well, I'm just gonna to go with it.
I'm glad you like the painting so much. I'll definitely say something if it actually gets accepted into Spectrum. Thanks for the comment!
Wonderful! I love when people draw fantasy creatures like fairies a bit differently from humans, it makes them so much more believable. I really like the long and slender hands and feet of your fairy, and the colour and shading of its skin. The background also looks beautiful, and the two different light sources really makes the picture come to life. Great job!
